October 2012 Page 1 -10 <br />NM -22 is located in Pratt Canyon. The well is screened 791' above Maxwell seam as <br />was established to monitor water in the Raton Formation. <br />NM 23 is completed in the Maxwell seam at a total depth of 1,388.9 ft. <br />Station SF -2, a well located in the upper reaches of Cherry Canyon, was established to <br />monitor the level of groundwater in overburden. <br />1. 2.8 UST Monitoring and Remediation Wells <br />As approved by CDPHE, the remediation system and monitoring wells were removed in <br />1999. The NPDES discharge permit for the system has also been terminated. For further <br />information please refer to prior annual hydrologic reports. <br />1.2.9 Inactive Stations <br />ACAW -1: A dip sample from an alluvial well located in the Apache Canyon alluvium at <br />the mouth of Apache Canyon. It was established to monitor potential effects of secondary or <br />retreat mining. This station is currently inactive as per DRMS approval. <br />ACF -1: A grab sample from, and a measurement of, a stream flume located in Apache <br />Canyon approximately one -half mile from the confluence with the Purgatoire River. It was <br />established to assess potential effects of secondary or retreat mining on stream quality and flow. <br />This station is currently inactive as per DRMS approval. <br />WPD -1: A grab sample station of the West Portal Mine discharge pipe at the New Elk <br />Mine located in the inactive West Portal area. No data has been collected since 1989. <br />Thickener Pump: This site was established to monitor flows from the New Elk prep plant <br />thickener into the new Elk Mine workings (TR -34). This activity has not been initiated. <br />Recycling Pump: This site was established to document the pumping of water from the <br />New Elk workings at NEW -4 to the Prep Plant. This activity has not been initiated. <br />
