Dear Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety:
I would like to express my concerns of the current state of the reclamation of the
Hawksnest Mines. My main concern is the lack of topsoil of the gob pile and the wash plant
locations, as well as the lack of drainage ditches and culverts. More specifically the one directly
east of my property boundary, which allows mud and rock debris to flow out onto the road and
ultimately blocking the driveway of my residence. It would be my suggestion that a culvert
installed at the proper location under old Highway 133 would alleviate this problem. With
regards to the lack of topsoil I feel more topsoil I feel more topsoil is needed to allow native
plants and grasses to grow to enhance wildlife habitat.
Sincerely,
Q
