3.0 Ditch As -Built Demonstrations
To demonstrate that the ditches as constructed are sufficient to convey the 10 -YR event runoff
required, the peak flows were compared to each ditch segments capacity at the minimum
freeboard of 0.3 ft. This comparison is shown in Table 2.05.3(4) -7 -2. The demonstration shows
that the ditches are more than sufficient to convey the required flows.
In addition to the ditches listed in Table 2.05.3(4) -7 -2, an 18" diameter culvert connects the East
Segment 1 to East Segment 1. This culvert can convey up to 8.26 cfs of flow, as shown in the
design calculations below, demonstrating that the culvert can convey the necessary East
Segment 1 flow of 7.64 cfs without problem.
Culvert Design Thu May 09 16:48:31 2013
Design Parameters
Section
Shape: Circular
Material: Corrugated Metal
Diameter: 18.00 in
Manning's n: 0.0250
Number of Barrels: 1
Inlet
Inlet Type:
Projecting
Ke:
0.90
Inverts
Inlet Invert Elevation:
5746.270
ft
Outlet Invert Elevation:
5719.310
ft
Length:
60.110
ft
Slope:
44.85
%
Culvert Calculation
Discharge:
8.26
cfs
Headwater Elevation:
5747.770
ft
Tailwater Elevation:
5719.300
ft
Downstream Velocity:
16.75
ft /s
Downstream Flow Depth:
0.484
ft
Flow Control Type:
Inlet Control, Unsub /submerged
APPENDIX 2.05.3(4) -7 PAGE - 14 - MAY 2013 (TR 04)
ff,'P1>-aJ-
O/ • OjCJ,20 /3
