Box 483, Paonia, CO, 81428, has sub- mitted a complete application for a technical revision to the Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety for its approved Bowie No. 2 Mine, mining permit no. C- 1996-083. Pro - posed technical revision W. 83 wilt approve an additional expansion of a material storage area located east of the B -Seam portals. Tsch- n'ical revision no. 79 initially ap- proved the material storm area expansion and the excavation of 1000 cubic yards from the excess material stockpile. An additional 6,000 cubic yards will need to be excavated from the excess material stockpile in order to further expand the material storage area. Bowie proposes to utilize all of the mate- rial excavated from the excess ma- terial stockpile to supplement the volume of cover material available for gob pile numbers 2 and 4. Most of the mine facilities are lo- cated north of Bowie Road near the town of Bowie, CO. A pump station, three sediment ponds, a coal mine waste pile and unit train loadout are located south of Bowie Road. The Fire Mountain Canal is located south of the mine facilities and north of the unit train loadout. The North Fork of the Gunnison River is located south of the mine permit boundary. The proposed mine permit area is located on the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute Bowie Quadrangle map within the following sections.
