R Harries, Goff Engineering
C -1992 -080 TR -17 PAR No. 2
21 -Oct -2013
Channel will not be restored to its original configuration, this page should be eliminated
or revised to indicate that the design will not be implemented.
DRMS 10121: Revising the sixth page of Appendix 5-2 will be handled under the RN-
04 process.
6. DRMS 09120: The design information and maps provided with the technical revision
application have not been certified by a registered professional engineer. Please provide
the required certification for all of the maps, cross - sections, and plans submitted (Rules
2.10.3(2) and 4.05.4(2)).
DBMS 10118: This item has been resolved; the maps, cross sections, and plans have
been certified
7. DRMS 09120: The design event requirements for the Carbon Junction channel are as
follows:
• Unnamed tributary to Carbon Junction Channel —10 yr -24 hr (Rule 4.05.3)
• Carbon Junction Channel upstream of the Carbon Junction Diversion Channel 10 yr -
24 hr (Rule 4.05.3)
• Permanent Diversion of Carbon Junction around the fill —100 yr — 24 hr (Rule 4.09)
DRMS 10121: No response was required
8. DRMS 09/20: It will likely be necessary to extend the rip rap upstream of the Permanent
Carbon Junction Diversion Channel to ensure that flow from Carbon Junction is directed
to the Permanent Carbon Junction Diversion Channel and not in the direction of the
former East Diversion.
DRMS 10/21: A rip rap bank stabilization design has been proposed to ensure that
runoff from the Upper Carbon Junction Channel is directed to the Carbon Junction
Permanent Diversion. This appears to be an appropriate proposal, but eh placement
(grade and length) should be verified in the field field fit) to determine whether it
extends far enough to ensure that flow is diverted off of the permanent fill and away
from the East Diversion Channel.
9. DRMS 09/20: Maps and text provided with the application indicate that the riprapped
permanent diversion ends at Station 20 +20—. A comparison with aerial photos of the area
appears to show that the riprap extends further upstream, to Station 23 +00 —. Please
review, and revise the application as appropriate.
DRMS 10121: This item is resolved,: the maps have been revised as requested.
10. DRMS 09/20: No elevation labels have been provided for the contour lines on the
various maps. Please include this information, together with the dates the contour data
was collected.
DRMS 10/21: This item is resolved; the maps have been revised as requested.
