DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES
DIVISION OF WATER RESOURCES
John W. Hickenlooper
Governor
Mike King
Executive Director
Dick Wolfe, P.E.
Director /State Engineer
Response to Reclamation Permit Application Consideration
DATE. October 17, 2013
TO- Michael A. Cunningham, Environmental Protection Specialist
CC: Division 1 Office, District 5 Water Commissioner
FROM: Sarah Brucker, RE

RE: Colorado Red Rose Stone Resource, File No. M- 2013 -068
Operator: Colorado Rose Red, Inc.
Contact. Steve O'Brian, (303) 423 -7297
Sec. 33, Twp. 4 North, Rng. 71 West, 6th P.M., Larimer County
CONDITIONS FOR APPROVAL
® The proposed operation does not anticipate exposing groundwater. Therefore, exposure of ground
water must not occur during or after mining operations.
The applicant has indicated plans to use other water for hole drilling purposes at the permit site. The
source of water for this use was not specified. Applicant needs to document that this water was diverted
in priority under a water right permitted or decreed for such industrial use. Applicant should contact the
water commissioner for further information.
COMMENTS: The applicant proposes to conduct a surface mining operation on approximately 3 acres located
7.6 miles northwest of Lyons, Colorado. The primary commodity to be mined is granite. The current and future
(post- mining) use of the land is rangeland. The mining plan indicates that water will be used for drilling holes
related to blasting at the site. Such water must be from a source permitted or decreed for such
commercial /industrial use.
If stormwater runoff is intercepted by this operation and is not diverted or captured in priority, it must be released
to the stream system within 72 hours This may require a discharge permit from CDPHE -WQCD. Otherwise,
the operator must make replacements for evaporation.
RECEIVED
OCT 17 701.1
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MINING AND SAFETY
Office of the State Engineer
1313 Sherman Street, Suite 818 • Denver, CO 80203 • Phone: 303 - 866 -3581 • Fax: 303 - 866 -3589
www.watenstate.co.us
