MANAGEMENT October 4, 2013 Susan Burgmaier RECEIVED Division of Reclamation, Mining & Safety OCT 0 7 2013 1313 Sherman St., Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 DIVISION OF RECLAMATION MINING AND SAFETY Re: Bowie Resources, LLC, Bowie No. 2 Mine MR -141, Designated Coal Mine Waste Drying Area, Gob Pile #3, Revise disturbed area boundary Permit C- 1996 -083 Dear Ms. Burgmaier: On behalf of Bowie Resources, LLC, enclosed is an application for a minor revision to designate a coal mine waste drying area for gob pile #3, and revise the disturbed area boundary in order to allow for increased stockpiling of coverfill materials. Gob will be hauled to both gob piles #2 and #3 during the winter months, with the majority of gob being hauled to gob pile #3. In the reclamation estimate, item 037 accounts for 200,000 cy of un- compacted gob to be in stockpile. This number should be adequate to account for the un- compacted gob that could be in stockpile over the winter months. The disturbed area boundary will be revised to reflect on the ground conditions and to plan for stockpiling operations. As originally permitted, the coverfill stockpile was to be situated in a hay field at the east end of the planned disturbance. However, Bowie has committed to the adjacent landowner, Bob Barnes, not disturb the hay field at this time. So the disturbed area boundary will be reduced in that area. To increase the area available for coverfill stockpile, the disturbed area will be extended to the north as shown on page 4c. In addition, there is an area on the west side of the disturbance that was excluded from the disturbed area boundary that will now be included in the disturbed area boundary. There will be a net decrease of 0.01 acres for the disturbed area boundary.
