Exhibit C: Mining Plan
(a) Mining will commence upon approval and will continue for 10 years. Mining activities
will be seasonal, occurring less than 180 days per year on affected land. Only hand tools
will be used. If operations are to continue beyond 10 years, a request for continuance will
be submitted with DRMS.
(b) The dig site is a dry, mid - elevation site consisting of slopes of decomposed granite.
Finer soil occurs in layers under the loose, decomposed granite and will be replaced at
the surface of the backfill areas to facilitate regrowth of seeded plants. Some of the
overburden consists of larger rocks, but stockpiles left at the end of the season will be
seeded to prevent erosion of the finer material downslope.
(c) As the season ends, overburden will be replaced in dig areas to help preserve the
pockets and the slope.
(d) The thickness of the deposit will depend on the pocket. Since only hand tools will be
used, the maximum depth will be 12 -15 feet.
(e) Mine components are minimal. Access is by foot path as shown on Exhibit E.
Currently, the only open dig on the site is the discovery pit, with three other future targets
identified on Exhibit E. No on -site facilities or structures will be located on the claim.
(f) The total mining disturbance will not exceed 9.9 acres, with a maximum of two acres
affected at any one time. I do not anticipate any excavations to be greater than 12 -15
feet. The work area around the excavation will be benched to accommodate overburden
and finer soil stockpiles during digging activity.
(g) No roads will be created for the mining operations. An existing historic road and
historic foot trail will be accessed on foot to reach the claim. No modifications to either of
these will be made.
(h) No water will be used during mining operations.
(i) No groundwater or surface water will be disturbed during mining operations.
0) Not applicable.
(k) No toxic or acid forming materials are expected. If encountered, DRMS will be
consulted.
(1) This operation is not expected to have any affect on the hydrologic balance. After
mining, all excavations will be replaced, contoured and reclaimed to as stable condition
as pre- mining conditions.
(m) Minerals will be processed off -site.
(n) The commodity to be mined is gemstones, including quartz, topaz, fluorite, amazonite
and other related minerals.
(o) No explosives will be used.
