Compliance With Mine Plan N - Support Facilities Not On-site <br /> N -Other N - Special Categories Of Mining <br /> N -Processing Waste N -Topsoil <br /> COMMENTS <br /> This was a complete inspection of the Hawk's Nest Mine conducted by Jim Stark of the Colorado Division of <br /> Reclamation, Mining and Safety. The Hawk's Nest Mine's permit has been revoked,the bond was forfeited and <br /> the reclamation was completed by the Division. In the summer of 2012 the Division conducted year nine <br /> vegetation monitoring and in the summer of 2013 conducted year ten vegetation monitoring. A termination of <br /> jurisdiction inspection is planned for 24 October 2013. The weather was warm and sunny and the ground was dry. <br /> BACKFILL and GRADING—Rule 4.14 Contemporaneous Reclamation 4.14.1;Approximate Original Contour <br /> 4.14.2;Highwall Elimination 4.14.1(2)(f); Steep Slopes 4.14.2,4.27;Handling of Acid and Toxic Materials <br /> 4.14.3; Stabilization of Rills and Gullies 4.14.6: <br /> -The East and West Portal areas and the bleeder entry area were all stable at the time of the inspection. There <br /> were no signs of settling, slumping or cracking in the backfilled areas. No erosional problems were noted. <br /> RECLAMATION SUCCESS-Rule 4.15,Rule 3: <br /> -The reclaimed areas were covered were well vegetated with perennial grasses and(a small amount of) shrubs at <br /> the time of the inspection. All of the vegetation was still very vibrant as a result of all of the rain the area has <br /> received this summer. There was a small amount of Russian knapweed present at the East Portal area but no more <br /> than was there in recent inspections. The reclaimed portions of the Hawk's Nest Mine do not have the thistle or <br /> hound's tongue problems other areas have been seeing this year. <br /> -All of the backhoe pits that were dug for infiltration tests(for a septic system leach field)were filled in last fall. <br /> These areas are all doing well and have decent growth on them.
