EXHIBIT B
JAMACO PIT
SITE DESCRIPTION
This site is located 4.0 miles west and 2 miles north of Arriba, Colorado and is located on
Hackberry Creek at an approximate elevation of 5,300 feet. The site drains to the creek,
which flows to the northeast; Hackberry Creek is a tributary of the Arickaree River. Most
of the slopes are flatter than a 4:1 but some of the banks of Hackberry Creek are steeper.
The land surrounding the immediate pit area is composed of gently rolling hills. There
will be no mining activities in Hackberry Creek and no erosion products will be allowed
to enter this drainage feature.
Vegetation in this area is consists of blue gramma, western wheatgrass, green needle
grass, buffalo grass, fourwing saltbush. Some of the pit will also be located in a portion
of the property that is devoted to the cultivation of winter wheat.
Topsoil is approximately 3 to 6 inches thick and the over burden is 1 to 2 feet thick. In
some areas sand and gravel is mixed with the topsoil.
The only man made structure within two hundred (200) feet of the affected area is a ranch
that runs east and west just within ten (10) feet of the northern most pit boundary. This
ranch road will be maintained by the county. It is not a county road.
There is no major wildlife in the area; nor any endangered species that would be
impacted.
Revision 1: Feb. 9, 2011
2
