PERMIT #: M- 2003 -016
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: ECS
INSPECTION DATE: September 26, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
This was a rou ne inspec on for the Heit Pit at the request of the Operator Representa ve, Wayne Brantley.
Mr. Brantley was contacted by DRMS recently to re- establish the groundwater monitoring data collec on that
is currently required by the approved permit. To assist in that a ort, DRMS representa ve Eric Sco visited
the site to instruct site personnel in the proper methodology for the data collec on.
A er some basic instruc on on standard opera ng procedures for water level collec on, Mr. Sco toured the
site with Mr. Brantley for a rou ne inspec on. There were several other possible water level monitoring
loca ons noted along the south permit boundary that may be useful to incorporate into the monitoring
program at this me. DRMS would encourage the operator to inves gate these other wells to determine if
they are suitable for rou ne water level monitoring.
The only compliance issue noted during the inspec on was the presence of a few small tamarisk trees that will
need to be eliminated, and the presence of a fairly signi [Ncant amount of cheatgrass. Both are state listed
noxious species, and cheatgrass can be very problema c to control if it is allowed to become well - established
on the site. DMRS suggests contac ng the County Weed Management specialist for Weld County (Tina
Booten) for advice on the best way to eliminate /control noxious weeds.
