TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS
3.12 PLACEMENT OF SOIL OR GRANULAR MATERIALS
A. All soil materials located on top of a geomembrane shall be placed in such a manner as to ensure:
1. The geomembrane and any underlying GCL are not damaged.
2. Minimal slippage of the geomembrane on underlying layer occurs.
3. Minimal movement and wrinkling or folding of the underlying geosynthetics layer(s) occurs.
4. No excess tensile stresses shall occur in the geomembrane, such as by earth moving equipment
making sudden starts, stops, turns. The allowable ground pressure for equipment shall be
prescribed by DESIGN ENGINEER for the material type and layer thickness as identified in
Section 2200.
3.13 GEOMEMBRANE CONNECTION TO EXISTING CONCRETE
A. All Geomembrane connecting to existing concrete shall be attached as shown in the DRAWINGS.
CERTIFYING ENGINEER shall verify that the connection has been made in accordance with the
DRAWINGS and SPECIFICATIONS.
At the attachment point the geomembrane shall be sandwiched between two neoprene gaskets 1/4"
thick x 1 1/2" wide and capped with a 13/8" wide x 1/4" thick stainless steel batten strip.
2. Gaskets, geomembrane, and batten strip may be attached with 3/8" Dia. x 3 3/4" long wedge type
stainless steel anchor bolts 6" on center a minimum of 3" below the top edge of existing concrete.
The top edge of the gaskets and geomembrane should be caulked with a general silicone sealer,
RTV 103, or equivalent to prevent seepage behind liner.
END OF SECTION 02776.1
Geomembrane August 28, 2013
02776.1 -16 Revision 0
S \Projects \1550 - CC &V Field Spt CQA PSES Bldg \8 0 Project Engineering and Design \8 2 Specifications\PSES Pipe Rack Liner Extenswn Specifications \02776 I Geomembrane docx
