PERMIT #: M -1980 -205
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: PSH
INSPECTION DATE: September 13, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
The Select Materials site was inspected by Peter Hays with the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety
(Division) as part of the Division's monitoring inspection program. The site was previously inspected by the
Division on November 13, 2008. Mr. Robert Oman with Select Materials, LLC was present during the
inspection.
The Division holds a financial warranty in the amount of $7,500.00, which appeared sufficient to complete
reclamation of the current disturbance.
The site is permitted for 38.4 acres. The mine sign and boundary markers were observed as required by Rule
3.1.12. The site was not actively mining during the inspection due to the recent flooding in the area. The pit
floor was flooded and the Operator was working on controlling the stormwater at the site. Excavation of the
hillside is proceeding to the east. Product stockpiles were observed in the southern portion of the site.
A wood products plant has been constructed in the northwest corner of the property and north of the
maintenance shop. The plant is not associated with the mining permit. The topsoil and overburden were
stripped before the plant was constructed and stockpiled along the eastern boundary of the plant area. The
stockpiled material will be used for reclamation.
The approved post- mining land use for the site is general agriculture. No reclamation activities were observed
during the inspection. The undisturbed land to the east and north of the pit is planted with perennial rye. The
Operator stated Russian thistle was mowed as part of the weed control program for the site. No noxious
weeds were observed during the inspection.
No problems were noted during the inspection. Photographs taken during the inspection are attached.
Inspection Contact Address
Mr. Robert Oman
Select Materials, LLC
P.O.
