The permit area is
further described as follows:T33S, R68W, Portions of Sections 24, 25 and 26 All sections are
partially or fully projected by New Elk Coal Company due to the unsurveyed nature of the
Maxwell Land Grant. The abovementioned tracts of land are shown on the USGS 7.5 minute
Quadrangle maps of Vigil, Tercio and Stonewall.
Since this renewal application does not propose revisions to the approved mining and reclamation
plan, nor is there any proposed surface disturbance outside of the currently approved disturbance
area Colorado Parks and Wildlife does not have any objection to the renewal. CPW has a
positive working relationship with the New Elk Coal Company and will continue to work in
concert with the administration and staff to protect and enhance wildlife habitat on the New Elk
Coal Company and its interface with the Bosque del Oso State Wildlife Area.
Sincerely,
Michael Trujillo
Area Wildlife Manager- Pueblo
Colorado Parks and Wildlife
600 Reservoir Road
Pueblo, CO 81005
(719) 561 -5303
STATE OF COLORADO
John W.
