1 <br /> <br />' The mine office remains in excellent condition and was used as recently as 1985. <br /> Overall measurements are 38' x 26' with a 13'-1" x 9'-6" porch attached to the southwest <br /> corner. The one-story building rests on a full basement foundation of poured concrete walls <br />' and floor. The ground floor is constructed of 2' x 10" floorjoists with 1" diagonal sheathing <br /> and 3 1/4 "tongue and groove fir flooring and linoleum Floor finish. The walls are solid <br /> brick with plaster surface exterior and center partition. The interior walls are wood-frame <br />t with lath and plaster. Interior trim includes clear pine trim with varnish finish, 2" wood trim <br /> band on walls at l0'-0 high above floor, 4' wood corner guards, 4 3f8" flat door and window <br /> casing with bedmold caps and a wooden toilet tank and seat. The basement contains a boiler <br />' room, storage room and vault with a steel door. Access to the basement is through a trap <br /> door in the plan room floor. The ground floor has a large office/reception room, a plan <br />' room, another office room, a small bathroom, and a steel vault. Seven various sized cast <br />iron radiators provide heat for the main floor. Access to the attic is through a small opening <br /> in the bathroom ceiling. Fifteen 3' x 5'-10" wood double hung, one lite sash windows are on <br />' the main floor with a small, 3' x 3' hopper window in the bathroom. The roof is a framed hip <br />roof with 24" flared eves and box plywood soffits (not original). It has a 4:12 pitch, 1" x 4" <br /> fascias and cedar shingles (see drawings A7-A8). <br />' Also remaining, in conjunction with the mine office, is the nearby machine <br /> shop/garage. This structure has an overall measurement of 126'-5" x 20'-4". The foundation <br /> is poured concrete, as are the walls and the floor is gravel/dirt. It is divided into four bays of <br /> identical construction. Each bay possesses three sets of hinged double door units that open <br /> out to the south. Each wood door has an authentic divided nine lice window over a cross <br />' buck panel and each paired unit has I" x 4" flat casing. On the north wall, each bay contains <br /> three, non-operating, authentic divided three lite wood sashes. The east and west walls do <br /> not have any windows or doors. The roof is made of 2" x 4" rafters with 2" x 4" collar ties, <br />' 1" x 6" skip spaced sheathing with corrugated metal. It has a 6:12 pitch and 16" eve <br /> overhangs. This structure is in fairly good condition and is currently used for storage (see <br /> drawing A3). <br />' <br /> West of the mine office and beyond where the original Bowie home was located <br />' stands the Bowie house garage. This one-story, one room building has an overall <br />measurement of 15' x 20'. The foundation and floor are of poured concrete and the walls are <br /> 8" masonry with brick exterior and cement parging on the interior surface. [t is interesting to <br /> note that the brick is from the Delta Brick and Tile Company and exhibits a milky yellow <br />' color and smooth finish specific to the area of manufacture. The walls also have wood <br /> framed gables with tin siding. Of the original five window openings, two still contain the <br /> window sashes. These are 3'-8" x 2'-5" wood sashes with clear leaded glass in a <br />' configuration of two large diamond centers in a single Queen Ann surround. The garage <br /> door consists of two, 7'-6" x 6'-]0" bi-folding plywood panels with wood trim. The roof has <br /> 2" x 4" framing, and 8:12 pitch, 1" x 6" skip spaced sheathing and galvanized metal roofing <br /> in a mission file style.
