EXHIBIT J
VEGETATION INFORMATION
Introduction
The majority of the area being added is located west and
south of the existing gravel mine. The amended acreage consists
of native vegetation common to this area and a portion of area
disturbed by an old mining operation. The overall property
appears to have had a long history of agricultural use as a non -
irrigated pasture that may have been overgrazed. The attached
tables are from the soil survey report and show the typical
vegetation types on the different soils within the mine area.
1. Current cover percent is: 45 to 650
2. Topsoil depth on site averages: 0 to 7 inches
3. Seeding dates recommended: October 15 to May 1.
4. Fertilizer, if needed: Phosphate @ 40 lb /ac and nitrogen @ 40
lb /ac.
5. Seeding recommendation for area:
Non - Irrigated grass seed recommendation
Seed Rate PLS /acre
Western Wheatgrass (Arriba) 10.0
Sideoats grama (Vaughn) 6.5
Blue Grama (Lovington) 0.5
Winter Wheat 25.0
42.01
NOTE: 1/ Indicated rate if drilled. The site is currently part of a terrace deposit
above the Huerfano River located in a Loamy Plains range site
unit north of Walsenburg, Colorado. It has no special or unique
characteristics with mostly grass, cactus and sage brush covering
the area.
Vegetation Information
The following vegetation types were observed and mapped on
the site.
42
