EXHIBIT G
WATER INFORMATION
There are no water structures on the site. The closest stream
is the Huerfano River that at its closest point is approximately
1,550 feet north of the site. The floor of the mine will be
approximately 20 feet above the river flood plane. Mining will not
reach the ground water table. Our investigations indicate the
ground water table is more than 35 to 65 feet below the surface of
the site, so no ground water will be exposed.
Review of well data on the surrounding areas indicates the
highest water table is associated with the river alluvium that is
approximately 35 feet below the floor level of the mine. We do not
expect to encounter ground water on this site for that reason. We
will not affect the hydrologic balance of surface or subsurface
water in the area.
The operators intent is to minimize the disturbances to the
prevailing hydrologic balance of the affected land and of the
surrounding area and to the quality and quantity of the surface and
ground water system, both during and after mining and reclamation.
We believe we will be in compliance will all state and federal laws
and regulations governing water and water rights as the property
develops.
We estimate the current water uses at the mine including, dust
control require 3.00 ac -ft per year. This water is hauled from
sources we have that are approved for this use. Generally it is
purchased from the Town of Walsenburg, CO. No water will be used
for reclamation, nor will the revegetated areas be irrigated.
The pit is a dry mine so will not be dewatered and will be
graded such that all surface water runoff is retained on the site
and all off site storm runoff will be diverted around the permit
area.
23
