July 10, 2013 C-1981-046/Sunlight Mine BFB
the biomass in a''/z m2 plot at 2 and 7 meters along each transect for a total of one square meter per transect. All
the biomass was clipped in each plot(except Colorado listed noxious weeds and shrubs)and put into a brown
paper bag and labeled. The biomass was then oven dried at 55' C for 5 days and weighed. The data sheets are
included at the end of this inspection report.
The total vegetation cover for all areas of the mine was 37%. Of the total vegetation cover,32.2%were desirable
species and 4.8% were noxious weeds. The average production for all areas of the mine was 94.61 g/m2 or 845.8
pounds per acre.
SUBSIDENCE—Rule 4.20:
Steve Renner inspected the lower fan portal subsidence area. He poked at the subsidence and inby of the
subsidence with a rock bar looking for soft soil and a possible adit opening. Only the area of subsidence had soft
soil and appeared to be unstable. No openings to the adit were found. All other areas around the subsidence
appeared to be stable. Steve determined that the subsided area needed to be excavated to inspect the adit, ensure
the adit is collapsed and the area is stable. Steve will make the arrangements for a heavy equipment contractor.
The Division does not have any remaining reclamation funds for the Sunlight Mine. Steve said he will also
acquire funds through the Abandoned Mined Land program to pay for the earth work.
Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 1
Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 2
Page 3 of 3
