Responses to Division of Mining Reclamation and Safety Third Adequacy Review
By C. A. Braun — September 13, 2013
Third Adequacy Review Letter - General Issues - Dated September 6, 2013
Comment 7 & 8 Effect on surface water quality
Response:
The permitee will commit to performing annual testing of ore and waste rock if removed to the surface
of the permit area.
Comment 9 Provide pounds of pure live seed per acre
Response:
The grass reclamation mix discussed in the response to the first adequacy review describes the mixture
as containing the following percentages of pure live seed by weight: Wildrye (20 %); Intermediate
Wheatgrass (20 %); Smooth Brome (20 %); Slender Wheat (10%); Crested Wheat (10 %); Perennial
Ryegrass (10 %); and Orchardgrass (10 %). At the prior recommended seed rate of 10 pounds per acres,
the calculated weight of pure live seed is as follows:
Wildrye - 2 pounds per acre
Intermediate Wheatgrass - 2 pounds per acre
Smooth Brome — 2 pounds per acre
Slender Wheat -1 pounds per acre
Crested Wheat -1 pounds per acre
Perennial Ryegrass —1 pounds per acre
Orchardgrass —1 pounds per acre
The list shown on the original permit application includes the species that have been deemed suitable
for the general area, and the intention was not to plant all of the species listed. Thus, no seeding rate
was recommended for that list.
Comment 13 Stickers on the Reclamation map are acceptable as long as they are applied and signed
by PE
Response:
Two copies each of the three original revised maps are attached.
