PERMIT #: M- 2000 -080
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: TOD
INSPECTION DATE: September 21, 2013
OBSERVATIONS
This inspection was conducted in response to a request for an acreage release (AR -01) that the Division of
Reclamation, Mining and Safety (Division) received on May 10, 2013 and called complete on July 16, 2013.
The inspection was conducted by Tyler O'Donnell of the Division. Pioneer Sand Company, Inc., the operator,
was represented by Mike Ausburn during the inspection. The Pioneer Farm pit is located approximately 7
miles southeast of Watkins Colorado. The Pioneer Farm pit is permitted as a sand pit. The current permit area
is 315.5 acres. AR -01 requests a release of 5.5 acres of land that has an oil and gas facility located on it. The
new proposed permit area is 310 acres. The approved post- mining land use is cropland.
The Division sent out notices regarding the release request to the owners of record of the affected land, the
Arapahoe County Commissioners and to the West Arapahoe Conservation District on July 17, 2013 as required
by Construction Materials rule 4.17.2. The Division did not receive any written comments or objections to the
release request. On September 16, 2013 the Division approved a technical revision (TR -01) that updates the
reclamation plan and the reclamation plan map which included the location of the oil and gas facility. Based
on the conditions observed at the site during the inspection, it appears that the operator has complied with
the requirements of the Act, Rules, and the approved reclamation plan. The request for an acreage release
will be approved, notice of the Division's decision regarding the release will be sent under separate cover. No
problems or violations were noted during the inspection.
