Susan Burgmaier -2- September 16, 2013
BOW2: Please see revised page 1.
4. DRMS: The pagination of revised page 4 of Volume IX doesn't fit with the currently
approved version of Page 5 that starts with "Diversion Ditches ". Please submit a revised page
4 that coincides with the currently approved page S.
BOW2: Please see revised page 4.
5. DRMS: Please update Page 4 of Volume IX, the "West Expansion" entries under the
"Slopes" category to reflect the "as- built" configuration with slopes as steep as 2h:1v
approved with TR -75.
BOW2: Please see revised page 4
6. DRMS: Revised page 10 of Volume IX indicates that Pond F will be cleaned when sediment
accumulation reaches 75% of the maximum storage, but further states that the ability to
remove sediment from pond F is contingent upon weather conditions. Two years of sediment
capacity and scheduled cleanouts at 75% capacity are recognized as best practices, and the
Division understands that weather conditions are a valid concern for maintenance scheduling.
BRL can determine how best to schedule sediment removal from the pond, as long as BRL
ensures that the pond is in compliance with Rule 4.05.6(3)(b) requiring that ponds provide for
adequate sediment storage volume and periodic sediment removal to effect compliance with
appropriate discharge effluent limits. Please revise the page to include a sentence stating that
at no time will sediment accumulation in the pond be in excess of the maximum storage level.
BOW2: Please see revised page 10.
7. DRMS: On Page 17 of Volume IX, the first full paragraph makes mention of the September
5, 2012 Buckhorn analysis (for TR -75). Please revise this paragraph to also include the
November 20, 2012 analysis that was done in response to the Division's adequacy comments.
BOW2: Please see revised pages 17 and 18.
8. DRMS: On Page 18 of Volume IX, the last sentence states that the six working piezometers
are shown on Figure 1. This does not appear to be the case — perhaps this layer has been
turned "off" on Figure 1. Please revise the plan view on Figure 1 to illustrate the locations of
the piezometer installations.
BOW2: Please see revised Figure 1.
9. DRMS: Please update Page 18 of Volume IX to include the vibrating wire piezometers
(VWP9 and VWP10) that were installed in May 2012.
BOW2: Please see revised page 18.
