Notes for site visit September 17, 2013:
1 arrived on site and met with Bill Bear and Dan Quigley with
Buckhorn Geotech. The purpose of this site visit was for Dan's third
quarter inspection and site assessment. Since DRMS was on site last
week, there is not a lot to report that likely wasn't observed last
week.
Significant progress has been made in the gob pile #2 area since my
last visit. The north east portion of the pile is the only area left to be
completed before NOV 2013 -004 can be completely abated. A hole
had been dug down to the level of gob that existed before gob started
accumulating over the winter months. Compaction testing in the
depression, or hole has been performed. This area will be brought to
grade with lifts of gob that have been in stockpile since the winter
months.
We walked around both gob piles #2 and #4. There was nothing of
concern on either pile.
In addition to the top of the pile, the Operator is also working the
bench #3/4 area.
Gob was being hauled only to gob pile #3 while I was there. It is being
blended with coverfill in an effort to dry it before placement and
compaction.
Ponds F, C & D still have some water. They are being allowed to dry
further before cleaning them out.
