Water and Natural Gas Line Route Geotechnical Investimation (MR12 -12)
A site geotechnical investigation is required to support evaluation, design, and possible future
construction of a water and gas line route terminating at the Wadge Impoundment. A total of
four (4) holes will be drilled at a spacing of 1000' along the route within the permit
boundary. The approximate locations of the holes can be found on the Reference Map along
with appropriate cultural resources survey locations. Holes will be drilled in either
previously disturbed areas or areas that have had cultural resource investigations as shown on
the Reference Map.
The site geotechnical investigations will provide information pertaining to soil and rock
characteristics along the route. This will give a better understanding of the project scope and
costs involved.
An all- terrain drill rig will be used to complete sample holes to characterize rock and soil
materials present along the water and gas lines route. All auger -holes will be backfilled with
cuttings, leveled, and, if necessary, hand - seeded with the approved rangeland seed mixture
upon completion of drilling and sampling. The holes will be approximately 6" in diameter
and no deeper than 7 feet.
Geolop,ic Mapping and Samplinp, of Marine Shale (MR21 -13)
PSCM received a notice of violation (NOV) and an order to cease and desist non - compliant
discharge from the Water Quality Control Division on September 12, 2012 for alleged
excursions of the selenium limits from discharges occurring in 2011 and 2012. As part of the
requirements to address the NOV, PSCM committed to geologic field sampling and mapping
of marine shale outcrops within the watersheds and tributaries upstream of ponds 002 and
004.
An all - terrain vehicle mounted drill rig will be required to drill 2" diameter holes to extract
material for sampling at up to 14 sites. Material samples (both soil samples and rock
cuttings) will be collected for lab testing from depths of 1 and 2 feet, and at 2 -foot intervals
from 2 to 10 feet. A PSCM field technician will accompany the rig to collect and process
samples at the specified locations. All auger -holes will be backfilled, leveled, and, if
necessary, hand - seeded with the approved rangeland seed mixture upon completion of
drilling and sampling. All sites are located on either previously disturbed areas or areas that
have undergone archaeological investigations (see site map).
Z
MR21 -13 2.05.3 -E5 -, 08/13
