environmental exposures. Where control of extensive weed infestations results in limited vegetative cover or bare -
ground, the affected areas will be either be interseeded or ripped and seeded, dependent on site - specific conditions.
Evaluation of control effectiveness — Generally, in conjunction with the spring Environmental Management
surveys, areas of previously identified and treated noxious weed infestations are inspected and the effectiveness of
control measures is evaluated based on reduction or elimination of weed infestations. ETU EC's weed - control
contractors also provide similar information, based on their field observations. This information is utilized in the
management planning process to determine the need for continued treatment and to modify treatment method(s), if
indicated, to improve their effectiveness.
Vegetation Monitoring
RAG Empire will implement a monitoring program to evaluate revegetation success to determine if the revegetation
of each site is proceeding in an acceptable fashion. Each site will be studies the 3`d year after reclamation and the final
two years before release to determine revegetation success.
During the monitoring period, RAG Empire does not intend to meet sample adequacy when the sites are monitored in
the 3 "' year of the revegetation period. Sample adequacy will be met during the bond release - sampling period. The 3 "'
year monitoring will use ocular estimation to estimate cover. This technique has been used by the other agencies for
cover reasons.
