EXHIBIT D RECLAMATION PLAN <br />The reclamation of the Howard Creek pit(s) will entail the re- grading of disturbed areas <br />to slopes no greater than 3:1, H:V and timely planting of a native grass seed mixture. At <br />this time, is appears unlikely that any significant volume of topsoil will be uncovered <br />during mining of the old waste dump piles. However, the original soil horizons that <br />existed prior to the construction of the dumps may be exposed. If this occurs, the mine <br />operator will terminate extraction at that point and leave the original ground surface <br />material intact. If organic materials or topsoil is encountered at elevations inconsistent <br />with final grades, the materials NNhll be stockpiled within the affected land boundaries and <br />stabilized via grading and planting of grasses until the materials can be spread onto the <br />final grade surfaces prior to final seeding. A seed mixture for the site is listed below. It <br />includes native grasses, shrubs, and fortes which are found on site or known to grow well <br />in the area. The primary purpose of the mixture is to stabilize the site until on -site and <br />near -site seed sources of Douglas fir and Ponderosa pine provide for long teen <br />forestation of site. This is evident from the excellent growth of volunteer trees now <br />populating the surface of the waste dumps. <br />Prior to seeding, a soil sample will be analyzed for NKP requirements. Appropriate <br />amounts of inorganic fertilizer will be applied in accordance with soil sample <br />recommendations. <br />Reclamation activities will commence as soon as reasonably possible after each pit area <br />is mined out. Final grading operations will include bulldozer ripping to atleast one foot <br />below the surface of the flat areas to reduce compaction from front end loader and truck <br />operations. Seeding will commence within 30 days from final grading and ripping <br />operations and will be scheduled in late fall or early spring to maximize seed <br />germination. After broadcast seeding at a rate of 20 #PLS /acre, the seeded areas will be <br />mulched with clean straw at 3000 # /acre and crimped into the planting medium with dozer <br />tracks or disk apparatus. <br />During final grading operations at each pit, the site containment berms along Howard <br />Creek and Spring Creek drainage channels will be leveled and/or removed. Any <br />sediment structures constructed to control sedimentation from the load out area or from <br />any springs or seeps encountered will be filled and graded to conform to surrounding <br />land form. In the event that a spring or seep is uncovered during removal of the waste <br />dump materials, the water flow will be redirected back to Howard Creek (or Spring Creek <br />drainage) in as direct a manner as possible while not allowing for undo erosion or <br />headwalling of the return water flow. <br />7 <br />
