Wells Requiring Augmentation
The HydroBase associations of well IDs to augmentation plan IDs resulted in a total of 273,876
acres and 3,840 wells included in 125 augmentation plans. Individual wells and irrigated parcels
may be associated with more than one plan. This results in more than 273,876 acres being
associated with augmentation plans, as summarized in Table 4.
The unique acreage (i.e., without double counting acreage among plans) associated with the top
25 plans (254,636 acres) represents approximately 93 percent of the total well acreage associated
with plans (273,876 acres) in HydroBase, and 78 percent of the total well acreage requiring
augmentation (326,909 acres).
The remaining 53,033 acres in the Year 2001 irrigated acreage associated with 1,178 "wells
requiring augmentation" represent the well acreage not associated with augmentation plans in
HydroBase. Some of these wells are included in the Division 1 Augmentation Plan _Enforcement
(APE) database. The APE database was established in 2005. It is used for field enforcement
actions. Wells in the APE database demonstrate the following criteria:
• Wells are active (CIU = A or CIU = U).
• Wells are non-exempt (estimated based on water rights < 50 gallons per minute or no water
right at all).
• Wells are not associated with active (CIU = A or CIU = U) augmentation plans.
• Water Source = 3 (ground water) only.
• Structure type = 2 (well) only.
The APE database is not historical but represents current wells placed on the list. There is no
history of wells that were not in augmentation plans in 2001 and are now included in a decreed
augmentation plan or are no longer active. Although some 2001 acreage is tied to wells not in
active augmentation plans, these well depletions and augmentation requirements will be included
in the SPDSS model, as discussed in the Modeling Recommendations section.
9of16
