APPENDIX A-12 Riverside Canal Augmentation Plan System -Plan ID 0102522
The Riverside Reservoir and Land Company is a mutual ditch and reservoir company in Morgan
County on the north side of the South Platte River in Water District 1 (see Figure 1). The
Riverside Reservoir and Land Company have adjudicated recharge plan decrees and currently
has a pending augmentation plan (Case Nos. 02CW86 and 02CW86(A)). Wells under the
Riverside Canal system were historically enrolled in GASP. A number of well users in the
Riverside Canal service area operate their own augmentation plans, according to Riverside Canal
Company representatives. The Riverside Reservoir and Land Company plan gets a portion of the
credits from operating recharge diversions for these various plans under the Riverside Canal.
Due to the overlap of various plans, we recommend the following plans, and potentially others
not included here, be aggregated to represent the localized geographic extent of well depletions
and augmentation due to the integrated nature of operations:
• Riverside (ID 0102522) -Case Nos. 02CW86 and 02CW86(A)
• Goodrich (ID 0102525) -Case No. W-2919
• Headley (ID 0102536) -Case No. 90CW189
• Sublette (ID 0102725) -Case No. 89CW27
• Equus (ID 0102581) -Case Nos. 86CW386, 87CW52, and 88CW231
The decrees listed above were reviewed for this effort. The National Hog Farms augmentation
plan is also operated by the Riverside Reservoir and Land Company. The decree in this case
(Case No. 88CW264A) provides 60 percent of its credits to the Riverside Canal augmentation
plans. The remaining 40 percent of credits are available to the National Hog Farms as an
augmentation source for their wells (see Appendix A-24).
The number of wells associated with the augmentation plan system from sources reviewed for
this effort is summarized in Table 1.
Table 1
Wells Associated with Riverside Canal Augmentation Plan System (Plan ID 6402539)
Source Number of Wells
Various Riverside decrees* 114
HydroBase associations (Version 20060816)* 117
Tied to acrea e in GIS Irri ated Acrea e Assessment** 88
User interview -Riverside Canal plan only About 100
* Includes wells associated with Plan IDs listed in bullets above table.
Subset of HydroBase association based on wells decreed for irrigation with decreed rates greater than 50 gpm and specifically
tied to lands in the 2001 Irrigated Acreage Assessment.
A number of possible explanations exist for the variation in number of wells listed in the decree
versus HydroBase, including:
• Some augmentation plan decrees allow wells to be added to the plan without re-adjudicating
the plan.
• Some of the listed HydroBase wells may be recharge wells, augmentation wells, or decreed
for other uses.
• Some wells may have been replaced and the original wells are still included in HydroBase.
A-63 ofA-106
