These
weights were developed based on location of the majority of irrigated land within a
County/HUC and other factors. Default climate station weights were developed for each
water district, and are assigned if a structure is not assigned to both a county and a HUC
in HydroBase. This generally applies to aggregated diversion and ground water only
structures. Counties in HydroBase reflect the structure headgate location. In some
instances, generally for larger structures such as the Rio Grande Canal, the majority of
irrigated lands are in another county. The default county/HUC assignments have been
replaced for these structures. The assignment of climate stations and associated weights is
discussed in the Rio Grande Historic Crop Consumptive Use -Climate Station
Assignments memorandum, included in Appendix E.
cureport_6-2004.doc 20 of 48 June, 2004
