<br />Seoping Period Update
<br />
<br />The formal public Scoping PE'riod for the Glen Canyon
<br />Dam Enviroronentallmpact Statement has concluded,
<br />and now Recl..mation is digging out from the
<br />tremendous crush of letters and cards received.
<br />
<br />11,t' public re~ponse was significant. Over 1i,OOO people
<br />sent in written input while about 1,200 pilrticipated in
<br />the ei~ht public meetings. Many of those who <lttended
<br />ll1t-'t'ting~ illso ~t'nt in cards and It'tter~. The meetings
<br />were held in Salt Lake City, Denver, Phoenix, Flagstaff
<br />(twu Illt'etings), Los Angeles, San Francisco, and
<br />Washington D.C.

<br />11,e task now before us is to produce an analysis of the
<br />public romments and suggt'Stion5. That report \....ilI
<br />assist the [IS team in addressing the issues and
<br />
<br />preparing thE' rangE" of altemCltives to Ix> eVClluated in
<br />the EIS. The Scoping Report will be ilvail..ble IMer this
<br />summer. Because of the number of respon.<ies, it is
<br />taking extra time to conduct this analysis, The utmo;t
<br />care is being given to eClch card and letter to ensure it is
<br />carefoll}' considered and recorded.
