The program as presented includes fiscal year 1971 <br />activities, the program for fiscal year 1972 as outlined in the budget <br />estimates, and preliminary field estimates for fiscal year 1973. <br /> <br />.. <br /> <br />Two reports have been published by the Missouri Basin Inter-Agency <br />Committee this fiscal year. The Annual Progress Report, September 197~, <br />was the first report. This report summarizes the Committee's activities <br />for fiscal year i970 including 'the activities of the permanent subcom- <br />mittees and those of the Standing Committee on Comprehensive Basin <br />Planning. ThiB, t~e Becond report, covers the program schedules and <br />proposed budgets ,for the member States and Federal agencies. <br /> <br />TIlE COMMITTEE <br /> <br />The Missouri Basin Inter-Agency COllDllittee was first fonned in <br />March 1945 by action of the Federal Inter-Agency River Basin Committee. <br />The Cha:-ter was revised by the Inter-Agency COllDllittee on Fater Resources <br />in November 1954. The Water Resources Council was established by the <br />Water Resources Planning Act of 1965 and now gives guidance to the <br />Committee. The Committee, by Charter, is composed of the Governors of <br />the ten States that lie partly or entirely within the Missouri BaBin and <br />the nine Federal agencies actively involved in water and related land <br />resource development. This primary mission is coordinating and program- <br />ming of State and Federal activities in this field. This programming <br />report is prepared to enhance the coordination between the States and <br />Federal agencies and to better serve the needs of its members in <br />programming of "ster and related land resources development. <br /> <br />PURPOSE <br /> <br />Representatives of the State and Federal agencies meet in the <br />spring of the year to document .~he coordination of activities and to <br />discuss the program for the nexttl;'o years to enhance the coordination <br />of the S~ates' and Federal agencies' development programs. This report <br />includes, in the follo'ling sections, summaries of the Ststes' and Federal <br />agencies' development programs covering the current fiscal year (1971), <br />programs for fiscal year 1971, and field estimates, if available, for <br />fiscal year 1972. Estimates of cost for specifie projects are shown if <br />available. The program summaries include agriculture, water administra- <br />tion, hydrology, industrial development, public health, recreation, parks, <br />fish and \7lldlife, and policy and plan formulation. <br /> <br />3241 <br />
