Introduction Purpose: To Illust:J:ate the efforts 'PUt forth <br />in liineral County's high water this Spring and to s~ our act- <br />ivities to Mitigate future impacts of similar situations. <br />2. rescription of Disaster: <br />Setting: Spring 1985 after extrarely high armunts of <br />S1lCM fall. <br />Types of I:amages: loss of: Culverts, East Will.lJl.l <br />Creek road, Section of road by lllldslide. <br />!'heL~ency Response: Prevention of possible loss of <br />bridge at Pass Creek, South Fork of the Rio Grande and at <br />t1:Hilliams bridge on the Rio Grande, (See attached reports). <br />3. Eld.s~ ~litigation Measurers: <br />Finergency Preparedness: To continue our on going <br />interagency and inter County relationships, to nnintain the <br />higj:1est quality of a:rergency preparedness obtainable with <br />the strategy of "an ounce of preventim is ~ a pound of <br /> <br />cure. II <br /> <br />Implenentation: Sheriff's Office ~ response I <br />measures mitigated disaster inpacts significantly. As for <br />the m.rlslide a larger culvert replaced the one washed out, <br />through volunteer help and equipment two bridges were saved. <br />The Bjorn's lake Road a.Jdslide is to be closely watched. This <br />!!Udslide is still in an extrarely unstable condition, even <br />after the joint efforts of the National Forest Service Dept. <br />
