<br />, <br />\ <br />r <br />. <br />0 <br />(:,) <br />-"') <br />w <br />...... <br />c';l <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />111/ (?r <br /> <br />Upper Basin Depletions <br /> <br />At the August 7. 1969 meeting of the Task Force on long-range <br /> <br />reservoir operating criteria Mr. Jacobson was asked to compile figures <br /> <br />on annual upper basin consumptive uses of water over the study period <br /> <br />1914-65 being used in the Type I comprehensive river basin studies. <br /> <br />Mr. Jacobson accomplished this task and transmitted the results to <br /> <br />Mr. Riter. <br /> <br />The Bureau of Reclamation included in its material submitted <br /> <br />to the Task Force on July 25 a table of 1968 modified streamflows. The <br /> <br />job assigned to the committee on upper basin depletions resolved itself <br /> <br />into one of comparing the computed 1968 modified flows as determined <br /> <br />for the Type I study with the 1968 modified flows as determined by the <br /> <br />Bureau of Reclamation. In the process it was necessary to review previous <br /> <br />estimates of past depletions and of virgin runoff and then determine the <br /> <br />1968 modified flows, which represent the flows that could be expected <br /> <br />under a recurrence of a runoff period similar to the past runoff but with <br /> <br />a 1968 level of development. Because the Type I study is using a 1914- <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />65 period, this period was used by our committee as a basis for comparison. <br /> <br />An examination of the data used by the Type T study group and the USBR <br /> <br />revealed that both had started with data compiled by the Engineering Advisory <br /> <br />Committee to the Upper Colorado River Basin Compact Committee. For <br /> <br />this reason the results of the two studies are practically identical for the <br />
