<br />'I <br /> <br />00234(1 <br /> <br />. . <br />EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR'S MONTHLY REPORT <br />TO THE <br />COLORADO RIVER BOARD OF CALIFORNIA <br /> <br />4 <br /> <br />July 11, 2000 <br /> <br />ADMINISTRATION <br /> <br />Board Retreat <br /> <br />The Board's retreat is scheduled to begin at 2:00 p,m. after the Board meeting, In a separate retreat <br />folder, I have included the agenda and other material that will be used during the meeting. <br /> <br />Board Meetinl:! <br /> <br />I have included in the Board folder, under Tab 2, a revised meeting schedule with shows that the <br />August Board meeting has been moved to the 23'" of the month and will be held in the Board Meeting <br />Room of the San Diego County Water Authority facilities. <br /> <br />PROTECTION OF EXISTING RIGHTS <br /> <br />Colorado River Water Report <br /> <br />During May 2000, storage in the major Upper Basin reservoirs increased by 551 ,000 acre-feet and <br />storage in the Lower Basin reservoirs decreased by 99,000 acre-feet. Total System active storage as of the <br />end of May was 53,149 million acre-feet (maf) or 89 percent of capacity, which is 0.404 mafless than one <br />year ago. <br /> <br />June releases from Hoover, Davis, and Parker Dams averaged 16,200, 16,440 and 13,280 cubic feet <br />per second (cfs), respectively. Planned releases from those three dams for the month of July 2000 are <br />15,470, 15,580 and 13,090 cfs, respectively, TheJuly releases represent those needed to meet downstream <br />water requirements. <br /> <br />The July 5, 2000 forecast of April through July 2000 unregulated inflow into Lake Powell is 4,600 <br />maf, which is 59 percent of the 30-year average for the period 1961-1990, The forecast of unregulated <br />inflow into Lake Powell for the 1999-00 water year is 7,896 maf, or 67 percent of the 30-year average, <br /> <br />The Lower Division states' estimated consumptive use of Colorado River water for calendar year <br />2000, as estimated by Board staff, totals 8,460 maf and is projected as follows: Arizona, 2.853 maf; <br />California, 5.336 maf; and Nevada, 0.271 maf. Estimated additional unmeasured return flow credits of <br />0,244 maf would reduce the total amount to 8,216 maf, For calendar year 2000, the Central Arizona <br />Project (CAP) is projected to divert 1.378 maf, of which 292,000 acre-feet is to be credited to the Arizona <br />Water Bank, and The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California (MWD) is projected to divert <br />1.305 maf. <br /> <br />The preliminary July 5, 2000 estimate of2000 end-of-year California agricultural consumptive use <br />of Colorado River water under the first three priorities and sixth priority of the 1931 California Seven <br />Party Agreement is 3.972 maf. This estimate is based on the collective use through May 2000 by the Palo <br />
