QODi/Hi

CRDSS Developer's Documentation - Basin Naming
Conventions

Because of the number of different models, data sets, and developers, it is important to use a common
naming convention for basins so that the final product is integrated. It has also important that the
names are agreeable to most people because the names will be seen over and over again,

It is proposed that the following notation be used when referring to basins within the project (this
proposal will become final soon):

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Basin
(Full Name)

Directory
(& Data Set)

Div.

Hydrologic
Units

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Colorado Main Stem coloma-:i:RUf 5 1401*
Dolores dolores 4 1403*
Gunnison gunn 4 1402'
San Juan sanjuan 7 1408*
Whi te white 6 1405000[5-7J
Yampa ~ yampa. 6 1405000[l-3J
S"- \'\(, ".......~
Upper Colorado 'ill.'co1o~\\ 4,5,6,7 All of above

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------

,
The Upper Colorado basin data will be createa by combining the data from the individual basins.

Developers who are putting together baseline data sets should use the data set name exactly as shown
above. If a modifier is necessary, use underscores or periods to separate information (we need to
clarify this more although the scenario naming convention will control much of this).

Developers should also use the above names in any scripts, data files, etc., to provide continuity
within the project.

Steven A.
