It is our understanding these funds will be used for participation in a geo-hydrologic
analysis of an Elbert County research core by the Denver Museum of Natural History, the U.S.
Geological Survey, and other water users.

The CWCB approved a grant of $90,000 used to match two dollars for every one dollar
contributed to the project by any Colorado water user group or agency. I have attached a copy of
the Board memo concerning the Museum's grant application.

When the Board recommends your grant request to be included in the Construction Fund
Bill, there remain several conditions:

a. The bill must be approved bv the General Assemblv and signed bv the Governor.
This is usually accomplished around June 1 st.
b. You must adhere to the CWCB Guidelines for Financial Assistance. A copy of
our guidelines is enclosed.
c. A contract must be completed before funds can be advanced on your grant. You
will be working with Jan Illian during the contracting process, which usually
takes 3 to 6 months to complete. Jan will assist you with sample resolutions and
other documents necessary as part of the contracting process.
d. You must adhere to the CWCB Design and Construction Administration
Procedures. Mike Serlet will work with you on the CWCB requirements
concerning the geo-hydrologic analysis and the coring project. During the project
he will make inspections of the work, which will be the basis of the pay estimates
for disbursements of your grant funds.
