<br />. <br /> <br />., <br /> <br />IT <br />!~ <br /> <br />COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD <br />102 Columbine Building <br />1845 Sherman Street <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 <br /> <br />R E SOL UTI 0 N <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION GIVING CERTAIN ASSURANCES OF .THE STATE OF COLORADO, <br />THROUGH THE COLORADO WATER CONSERVATION BOARD, TO THE UNITED STATES <br />OF AMERICA RELATIVE TO THE CONSTRUCTION AND OPERATION OF THE BEAR <br />CREEK DAM AND RESERVOIR, A TRIBUTARY OF THE SOUTH PLATTE RIVER IN <br />COLORADO, FOR FLOOD CONTROL PURPOSES. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, by the Flood Control Act of 1968 the Congress <br />of the United States has authorized the United States Army corps of <br />Engineers to construct and operate the Bear Creek Dam and Reservoir,' <br />South Platte River, Colorado, for flood control purposes; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Chief of Engineers has recommended in Senate <br />Document No. 87, 90th Congress, 2nd Session, in part, that local <br />interests should furnish certain assurances satisfactory to the <br />Secretary of the Army in the form of a contract between the United <br />States and the State of Colorado, a copy of which proposed contract <br />is attached hereto as an appendix and hereby made a part of this <br />resolution; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Colorado recognizes that the con- <br />struction and operation of the Bear Creek Dam and Reservoir will <br />create substantial benefits to the citizens of this state through <br />the alleviation of flooding and flood damages; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board is an <br />official agency of the executive branch of the government of the <br />State of Colorado and has the power and authority to agree with the <br />recommendations of the Chief of Engineers preliminary to the con- <br />struction of the project; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the State of Colorado desires the earliest <br />. possible construction o.f the Bear Creek Dam_and~eservoir...and-.w~shes <br />-~to--co-mply wlth-the recommendations of the Chief .of Engineers; <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED by the State of Colorado, <br />through the Colorado Water Conservation, Board, in regular session <br />assembled at Denver, Colorado, this 8th day of March, 1'972, that it <br />
