Webb
Mayor, City and County of Denver
1437 Banock Street, Room 350
Denver, Colorado 80202

IN REPLY REFER TO:
Case No.: 94~08~034P

Community: City and County of
Denver, Colorado
Community No.: 080046
Panel Affected: 0013 C
Effective Date of
This Revision: ' APR 08 '994
102-D-A

Dear Mayor Webb:

This is in response to a request for a revision to the effective Flood
Insurance Study (FIS) and National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) map for
your community. Specifically, this responds to a letter dated
November 29, 1993, from Mr. Nick Skifalides, P.E., Deputy Manager of Public
Works, City and County of Denver, regarding the effective FIS report and
Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for the City and County of Denver, Colorado.
Mr. Skifalides requested that we revise the effective FIRM to show the
effects of a hydraulic reanalysis for a reach of Weir Gulch between West 1st
Avenue and Alleyway located just downstream of S. Quitman Street.

All data required to complete our review of this request were submitted by
Mr. Skifalides with his letter dated November 29, 1993, and by Mr. Bill
DeGroot, P.E., Chief, Floodplain Management Program, Urban Drainage and Flood
Control District, with his letter dated January 7, 1994.

.

Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMa) shows the effects of a publicly
sponsored flood-control project that reduce flooding to existing development,
fees were not assessed for the review.

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the elevations,
floodplain boundary delineations, and zone designations of a flood having a
I-percent probability of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base
flood) along Weir Gulch between West 1st Avenue and Alleyway located just
downstream of S. Quitman Street. Base (lOO-year) flood elevations (BFEs) are
decreasing throughout the revised reach. The BFE is contained in the channel
between West 1st Avenue and Alleyway located just downstream of S. Quitman
Street, except that sheet flow (Zone AO, depth 1 foot) exists in the
northwest quadrant at the intersection of S. Quitman Street and West 1st
Avenue and along parts of S. Quitman Street just north of the same
intersection. All property owners affected by this revision were notified by
Mr. Skifalides in a letter dated November 22, 1993.

The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copies of FIRM Panel
0013 C, Profile Panel 73P, and the Floodway Data Table for the City and
County of Denver. This LOMa hereby revises this panel of the effective FIRM
