RESOLUTION

PREVIOUS FLOODPLAIN INFORMATION

WHEREAS, there are no previously designated floodplain studies or maps within the
corporate limits of the Town of Rico; and

WHEREAS, the initial identification of flood hazards within the Town of Rico was
published by the Federal Insurance Administration on December 20, 1974; and

FLOODPLAIN INFORMATION TO BE DESIGNATED

. WHEREAS, the Federal Emergency Management Agency published a map entitled "Flood
Hazard Boundary Map, Town of Rico, Colorado" August 5, 1986 that shows approximate (Zone A)
floodplain areas for the Dolores River, Silver Creek, Iron Draw, Spear Creek, and Sulphur Creek;
and

WHEREAS, no revisions to said Flood Hazard Boundary Map have been published since
August 5, 1986; and

WHEREAS, a detailed flood hazard map for the Town of Rico was produced and published
by Wilbur Engineering, Inc. of Durango, ColoradO in 1998 that shows Zone AE, Zone X, and Zone
Y floodplains for the Dolores River and a Zone A floodplain for Silver Creek; and

WHEREAS, the Colorado Water Conservation Board, through the engineering firm of
Montgomery Watson, completed a report entitled "Floodplain Information Report, Town of Rico,
Colorado" dated September 2000 that provides technical and regulatory floodplain information to
supplement said Flood Hazard Boundary Map dated March 16, 1995 and to supplement said flood
hazard map dated 1998; and
