Specifically, this responds to a letter dated September 22,
1993, from Mr. Darrell R. Hogan, Director of Public Works, City of Aurora,
regarding the effective FIS report and Flood Insurance Rate Map (FIRM) for
the City of Aurora, Colorado. Mr. Hogan requested that we revise the
effective FIRM to show the effects of channel improvements and the
construction of two 9-foot by 6-foot reinforced concrete box culverts under
Sable Boulevard, along Sable Ditch. All of the data required to complete our
review of this request were submitted with letters from Mr. Hogan dated
September 22 and October 29, 1993, and January 25, 1994.

Because this Letter of Map Revision (LOMR) shows the effects
sponsored flood-control project that reduces flooding
development, fees were not assessed for the review.

of a publicly
to existing

We have completed our review of the submitted data and the flood data shown
on the effective FIRM, and have revised the FIRM to modify the elevations and
floodplain and floodway boundary delineations of a flood having a I-percent
probability of being equaled or exceeded in any given year (base flood) along
Sable Ditch from approximately 570 feet downstream of Sable Boulevard to
approximately 360 feet upstream of Sable Boulevard.

The base (lOO-year) flood elevations (BFEs) increase in some areas and
decrease in other areas as a result of the channel improvements and culvert
construction. The resulting Special Flood Hazard Area is reduced because the
100-year flood discharge is contained in an existing concrete-lined channel.

The modifications are shown on the enclosed annotated copy of FIRM Panel
0020 D, Profile Panels 09P and lOP, and the Floodway Data Table for Sable
Ditch. This LOMR hereby revises these panels of the effective FIRM dated
September 30, 1992, and the Flood Profile and Floodway Data Table in the FIS
report dated September 30, 1992.
