This year's conference is in a beautiful setting, at a beautiful
time of year, and has drawn a near record number of participants! The conference
committee has worked hard to present a conference which reflects the diversity and
complexity of the issues we deal with daily in floodplain and stonnwater management.

The theme this year is "Thinking Outside the Box...Expand Your'Rorizons." In addition
to examining the box within which we t!'tink today, we have tried'fol6ok fOrWatd iii time
to our future. Throughout the conference'ybu will hear about new teCftnlques, methods,
and integration with other disciplines which appear to be 'outside the b6x' now; bUt may
be common place in the future.

The conference begins with our keynote speaker, David Neenan. David is the'
president of the Neenan Company, a professional development services firm which'
designs and constructs projects under the concept called ArchiStfuctioh ™ , a team
partnering approach. David brings us hands-on experience with dealing with change
and creating a "learning environment" irlhisown company. Helhasccindueled many
workshops including 'Business &You", 'Power In You", and 'Train the Trainer" and is
skilled in helping seminar attendees 'think outside the box."

Another exciting aspect of this year's confereni::e is the field trip to Katsos Ranch Park to
see first hand and discuss the inter-relationships between landuse, watet quantity, water
quality and aquatic habitat/life. And a real tre'aHor you fly fishing fans; there willbea fly
fishing demonstration which utilizes knowledge of stream morphology and aquatic
habitat!

The technical program includes a variety of topics and many noleworthy speakers. You
are encouraged to ask questions and share your opinions and ideas. Utilize this
opportunity and enjoy your stay in Vail.

Your conference committee.workec;lbardtopi'esent anexi::ellentptcigram this year.
