Walcher
Executive Director
Dan McAuliffe
CWCB Director
(Acting)

BACKGROUND

At the November 1999 board meeting, the Colorado Water Conservation Board approved a
loan to the Jackson Lake and Reservoir Company in the amount of $336,600, from the Severance
Tax Trust Fund Perpetual Base Account. The loan amount was for the rehabilitation of their
existing diversion structure on the South Platte River, located approxinJately 25 miles east of
Greeley. The terms of the loan were not to exceed 90% of the total estimated project cost, at an
interest rate of 4.0% for 30-years. The project was designed by G.AS.P Engineering Services,
from Fort Morgan, Colorado, and the construction contract was awarded to Boone Excavating, from
Fort Morgan, Colorado.

The engineer's estimate of $374,000 to construct the project was based on removing the
existing 200-ft. long concrete diversion structure, constructing a new 100-ft x 5.0-ft. Obermeyer
pneumatic spillway gate, a new 100-ft x 5.0-ft concrete diversion wall, the construction of a 200-ft x
21-ft. downstream concrete splash basin, the installation of a new bladder gate control house,
placement of sheet piling, and miscellaneous site work and dewatering efforts.
