Walcher <br />Executive Director <br /> <br />Rod Kuharich <br />CWCB Director <br /> <br />Dan McAuliffe <br />Deputy Director <br /> <br />Update and Request for Board Action on the Droul!ht & Water Supplv Assessment <br /> <br />In September, you were provided with a Draft Copy of the Drought & Water Supply Assessment Report for <br />review and comment. You gave us the following instructions to allow for the approval of the Draft Report <br />and its subsequent production before the end of the calendar year. <br /> <br />. Send out copies of the Final Draft Report to the selected Extemal Technical Review Team (see list <br />attached), and coordinate their review and comments, providing summaries of their comments to the <br />Board. <br />. Prepare the recommendations section of the report for Board review and approval at the November <br />2003 meeting. <br /> <br />In addition, we contacted each of you in an effort to solicit comments on the Draft Report and provide you <br />with a briefl11g on the recommendations being developed. <br /> <br />Current Activities <br />A Final Draft of the Report was prepared based on comments that you provided to us at the September Board <br />Meeting. The External Technical Review Team has been reviewing the Final Draft of the document over the <br />past six weeks. Comments from this group will be obtained over the two weeks prior to the Board meeting <br />and will be summarized for the Board to review once they have been collected. <br /> <br />A copy of Chapter 17 of the Drought & Water Supply Assessment Report entitled "Project Findings, <br />Recommendations and Initial Implementation Steps" is attached for your review and comment. This chapter <br />presents the: <br /> <br />. Major findings of the report, which includes identifying the major objective of future state water <br />policy; <br />. Maj or recommendations of the report, which includes identifying the key "areas of practice" that the <br />CWCB must perform to implement any changes to state water policy; and, <br />. Activities and tasks that should be performed to initiate implementation of the identified changes. <br /> <br />Flood Protection. Water Project Planning and Financing. Stream and Lake Protection <br />Water Supply Protection. Conservation Planning <br />
