Agenda Item No. 12 - Drought Planning Assessment Update

Introduction

The purpose of this memorandum is to update Board members on the Colorado Water
Census and Assessment (drought planning survey) Project. The project scope was
presented at the May Board meeting.

Action

The Board staff, in cooperation with the project working group, has prepared a Scope of
Work (SOW) for the Colorado Water Cen$us and Assessment (drought planning survey)
Project.

On June 22, our twelve (12) member working group convened to review the final draft
SOW and recommended that the draft be transmitted to CWCB Board Members for
review and comment. (See Attachment I for the SOW and listing of members).

Upon receiving and incorporating Board member comments into the final draft, the
Request For Proposal (RFP) process for selecting a contractor will be initiated by the
CWCB in cooperation with the DNR Purchasing Division. Staff desires to get this
project "on the street" within the next thirty (30) days.

We anticipate that a contract will be executed with a successful bidder no later than
October 1, 2001. The project completion date will be October 1,2002.

Endorsement

The Board staff requests endorsement from CWCB members for announcing the RFP
process and commencement of the project.
