Mr. Lundahl welcomed everyone to the meeting and explained to the new people that this was
the Water Availability Task Force meeting, commonly known at the State drought meeting. He
mentioned they were the eyes and ears of the state concerning drought. Mr. Lundahl said that we
have been meeting monthly, because the conditions still warrant the Task Force to meet. He
later complemented the work of the Task Force members and told them it was greatly
appreciated. Mr. Lundahl also reminded everyone at the meeting that Greenco had developed
very good water management practices, and they could be seen on the CWCB webpage as
"GreenCo Better Management Practices."

Mike Gillespie, Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS)
Mr. Gillespie said our snowpack took a dive in April to 65% of average statewide which is 69%
of last year, and May improved slightly to 68% of average with our stonns in the mountains.
The San Juan Mountains and the Sangre de Cristo's received most benefit of the recent storms.
Snow deteriorated and dropped in Yampa. We had a slight increase in the Rio Grande
snowpack, and over-all statewide we had just a slight increase. Statewide this is our sixth
consecutive year of below average snowpack, but we are not as bad as 2002. We are still
tracking below average and melting out earlier than average across the state. It is predicted that
by early June we will have an early melt out statewide.
