<br />Colorado <br />Water Availability Task Force <br /> <br />TO: Members of the Colorado Water Availability Task Force <br /> <br />FROM: Kathie Hepp-Lucki, Colorado Water Conservation Board <br />for the Water Availability Task Force <br /> <br />DATE: September 16, 2005 <br /> <br />SUBJECT: Minutes of the Wednesday, September 14,2005, Task Force Meeting <br /> <br />The meeting was called to order Wednesday, September 14, 2005, at 1:30 p.m., and was held at the <br />Division of Wildlife Headquarters in Denver, Colorado. Those in recorded attendance included: <br />Jack Byers, Mike Gillespie, Klaus Wolter, Roger Pielke, Robin Knox, Jeff Tranel, Olga Erlich, <br />Keith Vander Horst, Josh Linard, Deb Frazier, Sam Davidson, Rob Wawizinshi, Jack Truby, <br />Chris Pacheco, Leon Sanders, Treste' Huse, Gary Bates, Mary Halstead, Frank McNulty and <br />Kathie Hepp-Lucki. <br /> <br />Jack Bvers. Deputv State Engineer. DNR. W ATF Vice Chair <br />Mr. Byers greeted everyone at the meeting, and mentioned that someone would soon be hired to fill <br />the Water Conservation and Drought position at the Colorado Water Conservation Board and chair <br />the W A TF meetings. <br /> <br />Governor's Policv Office <br />There was no one from the Governor's office at this meeting. <br /> <br />DNR. Executive Director's Office <br />Mr. McNulty stated there was no report from the Executive Director's Office this time. Later, he <br />also added that if conditions worsen the Water Availability Task Force should remain on call. <br /> <br />Snowpack, SWSI, Reservoir Storage, Streamflow Summary <br /> <br />Mike Gillespie. Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) <br />Mr. Gillespie mentioned they are in the process of improving their snow-survey program website, <br />and said in a couple of months it should be complete and ready to receive the new 2005 snowpack <br />data. <br /> <br />Mr. Gillespie reported we are at 98% of precipitation statewide and 115% of last year for this water <br />year. He said we have a couple of weeks left in the 2005 water year. Mr. Gillespie explained it is <br />wet in the south, average to above average in the southwest and southern mountains, below average <br />in places in the northern mountains; and, it is somewhat above average in the west and along the <br />Grand Mesa. He said the snotel data was highest for the Gunnison Basin with the highest <br />precipitation percentages (110%) and lowest for the South Platte with only 86% of average. Mr. <br />Gillespie commented the moisture from the month of January made our yearly percentage of <br />statewide precipitation, and we are still above last year overall. <br />
