BLM plans to
collect field data this summer and then make instream flow recommendations this fall for
action by the Board in January 2006. Any comments from the Colorado Water
Conservation Board or from North Park water users that would help us refine the list of
reaches and further define upper and lower terminus would be much appreciated. We
developed this preliminary list of reaches by looking at the location of diversions and the
location of BLM land ownership. In this preliminary sorting, we hope that we have
narrowed our list of reaches to those that will not present water availability problems.
However, this analysis is based on the decreed location of water rights, and does not yet
include on- the - ground information about the actual location of ditches and their actual
operation patterns.
The list of proposed stream reaches follows. I have highlighted these reaches on the
attached maps.
1. Indian Creek — Proposed lower terminus at headgate of Lawrence Ditch, which
appears to be senior right on this creek
2. Grizzly Creek — This creek already has an existing instream flow water right.
BLM would collect field data to see if the summer flow needs to be enlarged to
adequately support the fish population
3. North Fork North Platte — Proposed lower terminus at the headgate of the Little
Nellie Ditch, the senior right on this reach.
