., � � <br />Project Name: Water Education Initiative <br />Performance Period: Effective Date through 6/30/01 <br />Fiscal Year: 2001 <br />Amount $30,000.00 <br />Agency PDA <br />Routing No. 01-PDA-00038 <br />Contract No. C150054 <br />CONTRACT AGREEMENT <br />This Contract, made this � day of December 2000, by and between the State of <br />Colorado for the use and benefit of the Department of Natural Resources, Colorado Water <br />Conservation Board, 1313 Sherman Street, Room 721, Denver, CO 80203, hereinafter <br />referred to as the State or the CWCB at1CI �UDITH A. DALEY DBA GENTLE EARTH EDUCATIONAL <br />RESOURCES, a sole proprietorship, located at 2301 W. Vermijo Avenue, Colorado Springs, <br />Colorado 80904, hereinafter referred to as the Contractor. <br />FACTUAL RECITALS <br />A. Authority exists in the Law and Funds have been budgeted, appropriated and otherwise <br />made available, the sufficient unencumbered balance thereof remains available for <br />payment of a total of $30,000.00 from Fund No. 424, APPR. EDU, Program WTRC, GBL <br />EDUO, Object Code 5781, Contract Encumbrance No. C150054. <br />B. Required.approval, clearance, and coordination have been accomplished from and with <br />appropriate agencies. <br />C. Section 37-60-121(1)(b)(IV), C.R.S., authorizes the CWCB to make grants from the <br />CWCB Construction Fund with specific authorization from the General Assembly. <br />D. At its March 2000 meeting, the CWCB approved expending up to $115,000 from the <br />CWCB Construction Fund in support of a water education initiative for intermediate grade <br />students and households throughout Colorado beginning in the 2000/2001 school year. <br />E. Pursuant to H.B. 00-1419, Section 24, the General Assembly authorized $115,000 to the <br />CWCB to participate in a water education program for K-12 students and citizens <br />throughout Colorado. The purposes of the program are to develop and integrate a <br />Colorado water education curriculum into existing education programs; identify <br />mechanisms to distribute a water education curriculum to effectively supplement or <br />coordinate with other private and public water education programs; and convert the <br />curriculum to compact disc format for statewide distribution. In furtherance of this <br />program, the CWCB may develop its own curriculum and distribution systems or use <br />existing curriculum reviewed and approved by educators and water user groups and <br />existing distribution networks. <br />F. Pursuant to this water education program, the Contractor is providing The Water Cycle, a <br />basin-specific cross-curricular science kit that provides teachers with all of the materials <br />necessary to teach a one-quarter unit on water, to schools located within specific Colorado <br />basins. <br />Page 1 of 7 <br />
