<br />Dinosaur National Monument, originally a small area established under the
<br />Antiquities Act of 1906 for protection of one of the world's finest exposures of
<br />dinosaur and other ancient animal and plant remains, was later enlarged to
<br />include some 210,000 acres of the magnificent Green and Yampa River Canyons
<br />and adjacent territory. Approximately one-third of the monument lies in the
<br />northeastern corner of Utah, the balance being in northwestern Colorado. That
<br />portion of the Green between the recently completed Ashley dam, some miles
<br />north of the monument, and the stream's headwaters in western-central Wyoming
<br />was the locale for a 1962 fish management program which got completely out of
<br />control, to the detriment of the water life of the river below-including that
<br />portion flowing through Dinosaur Monument, set aside as an inviolate preservation,

<br />The National Parks Association is a completely independent, private, non-profit. public.
<br />service organization, educational and scientific in character, with over 26.000 members
<br />throughout the United States and abroad. It was established in 1919 by Stephen T.
<br />Mather, the first Director of the National Park Service. It publishes the month]) National
<br />Parks Magazine, received by all members.
<br />The responsibilities of the Association relate primarily to the protection of the great
<br />national parks and monuments of America, in which it endeavors to cooperate with the
<br />Service, while functioning also as a constructive critic; and secondarily to the protection
<br />and restoration of the natural environment generally.
<br />Dues ere $5 annual, $8 supporting, $15 sustaining. $25 contributing. $150 life with no
<br />further dues, and $1000 patron with no further dues. Contributions and bequests are
<br />also needed. Dues in excrss of $5 and contributions are deductible from federal taxable
<br />income, and bequests are deductible for federal estate tax purposes. As an organization
<br />receiving such gifts, the Association is precluded bi ]ae and regulations from advocat•
<br />ing or opposing legislation to any substantial extent; insofar as our author- may touch
<br />on Legislation, they write as individuals.
<br />Membership in the Association carries with it subscription to National Parks 1lagazine.
<br />School and library subscriptions are $4 a year; individual copies 50 cents. Letters aml
<br />contributed manuscripts and photographs should he addre.sed to the Editor at Associa•
<br />lion headquarters. The Association is not responsible for loss or injury to manuscript-
