South Platte Basin Roundtable Meeting Minutes <br />April 8, 2008 <br />Weld County, Colorado <br />Please contact Lisa McVicker for any changes or corrections to the minutes: <br />mcvicker~gwest.net <br />NEXT MEETING: Tuesday, May 13, 2007; 4 pm; Weld County Services Center, <br />Longmont, CO <br />Bill Jerke calls the meeting to order at 4:18pm. Bill announces that two graduate students <br />from CSU are requesting that members in the Roundtable assist them by participating in a <br />research study, "Natural Resource Collaboration on Colorado's Front Range," and <br />requests participation from any willing members. The students also will circulate a <br />survey during dinner and appreciate the Roundtable's participation. <br />Bill also commends Ralf Topper on his article in the Jan/Feb 2008 edition of the <br />Colorado Ground Water Association and reads from that article which can be found at the <br />Colorado Ground Water Association website. The article focuses, in part, on the 1969 <br />Act that shaped Colorado water law. <br />See: www.coloradoaroundwater.org <br />L Standard Reports: <br />IBCC Report: Eric Wilkinson and Mike Shimmin: <br />Next meeting is May 15; have not met since last meeting; <br />CWCB Report: <br />Eric Wilkinson: (see minutes on website) <br />Jennifer Gimbel announced three new members to CWCB: AK, Rio <br />Grande and SW Basins; nominated: Reed Dills of Buena Vista, <br />(whitewater rafting business; serves on AK roundtable) for AK; Bruce <br />Whitehead, in SW Basin; Travis Smith, reappointed to Rio Grande <br />(member of Rio Grande Roundtable (has served 3 years of CWBC); <br />March 18-19 meeting in Golden: discussion of Wild & Scenic Rivers <br />dilemma in Yampa, CO and SW basins of San Juan and Animas La <br />Plata/Dalores: Forest Service or BLM are moving toward eligibility as part <br />of their resource management plan; will have effect on water management; <br />State trying to find alternative to tlus to protect "remarkable values"; <br />Sigiuficant grants for water conservation grants; '/4 million to enhance K- <br />12 education; $160,000 water council for water conservation; numerous <br />construction loans awarded; <br />Re: in-stream flows: historic practice of CWBC -will move to <br />prioritization basis for basins; multiple loans out of WSRA account; other <br />work done on water conservation and strategic planning; <br />Ralf Topper: Question Re: Severance Tax application; <br />
