CRDSS
TASK MEMORANDUM 2.11-1
Analysis System and System Integration
Analysis System and System Integration Year 2 Efforts
1.0 ISSUE
This task memorandum describes the analysis system and system integration efforts for Year 2 of
CRDSS.
2.0 DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS
The Year 2 effort was broken into several subtasks which are summarized below.
Subtask 1. Develop a toolbox for analyzing time series output.
crdssgr
Initially, it was thought that the Year 1 product that was developed to implement the preliminary
crdssgr
database interface could be used for the time series tool. However, it became clear that would
need to be re-written to take advantage of Year 2 coding efforts (time series library, StateMod library,
crdssgr
DMI library). Therefore, was slated for non-maintenance and appropriate code was incorporated
tstool
into a new tool called . Additionally, because the data management utilities evolved to be very
tstool tstool
StateMod-specific, they have not been hooked into . is a graphical user interface (GUI) that
interfaces with the time series library which has functions for many time series operations (e.g., adding,
tstool
subtracting, regression). The CRDSS Users? Manual contains the documentation and the CRDSS
tstool
Developers? Manual contains the time series library documentation. Many of the functions of
have been adapted to the database/web interface.
tstool
has been implemented as a generic tool that currently can read structure and station information
from the CRDSS database and StateMod time series input files and list whether daily and monthly time
series are available. Time series can be read either from the CRDSS database or StateMod input time
series files. The user can compose a list of time series expressions. Each expression can be a simple
time series identifier or an expression involving time series. The list of expressions is then used to
retrieve and process time series to give graphical and tabular output. Data stations are displayed on a
map and can be selected from the map. The output period of record can be specified. Output formats
include:
?
StateMod input file format
?
Spreadsheet (delimited) format
?
X-Y line graph
?
Bar and stacked bar graph
?
Running average graph, including a centered running average and an N-year running average (there
was some confusion about what was required by the scope, therefore both were implemented)
1
a320/taskmems/ 2-11-01.doc 01/03/97
